Livigno is the second most common destination in Italy after Sestriere, the duty-free zone. Livigno forms part of the Alta Valtellina mountain community and it is a renowned winter and summer tourist resort in the Alps found in the province of Sondrio, in Lombary. Thanks to its splendid position between the Swiss National Park and the Stelvio National Park, it is a very famous destination frequented by visitors from Northern Europe. It offers skiing opportunities on both sides: Mottolino and Carosello 300.

Livigno is also known as Little Tibet, due to the geomorphological characteristics of the place, which are in some ways similar to those in Himalaya. In fact, Livigno is a plateau surrounded by mountains in the heart of the Rhaetian Alps.

Every year in the month of July, the city hosts the Stralivigno, a 21km competitive international running event.
